ABOUT

We are anthropologists, based at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Some with a few more years in the field than others. We embrace anthropology because of its powerful commitment to self-reflexivity as an analytical tool and thick description as a theoretical standpoint. So many things are happening around us in response to the spread of the COVID-19/coronavirus. We feel pushed to write, to make something of the instances that are making us reflect about our own analytical concerns in respect to inequality and possibilities. We hope this sheds some optimism and inspiration in these apparently ‘apocalyptic’ times. Be sure: we are struggling for change!
